A small orange evaluation
At the launch of my new website it two years ago, I knew I needed a sizable hosting package. I decided to give a company then known a little less orange a try.
We do not let me down!
A different look & Feel
There is much to say about the company from the beginning. A small orange (ASO) has a completely different approach to the hotel, starting with their single domain.
A little strange, but there is a bright spot for the smart brand in a sea of vendors sounds like they just slammed the “landlord” and a different word.
And where other hosting companies seem to follow the same model for their website (a hot girl, a “great deal” and a long list of features), a small orange continues stands out, with d ‘creative and well thought illustration: design elements let you know exactly who they are and why they are different. It just feels more legitimate.
So you’re probably saying, “Come on, Alex! So what if they have a good looking website? Does it really mean that we should buy them seats?”
No, that’s not what I said. I just want to see where the company is taking a risk, showed some balls and go against what is considered “industry standard.” For me, it shows the character of the company and a small orange has character.
Things I like:
A strong brand and a different feeling for a hosting company.
A “Knowledge and Video Guide” to the strong customer questions. These guys are up and running and easy to care for their clients.
Transparency in their ads – not “unlimited bandwidth” nonsense here.
These plans have very good price for the value, especially when you consider the quality of service you get better.
There are a variety of plans available, so you’ll never pay for what you do not really need.
They use the standard cPanel, which is the easiest to use interface for both beginners and veterans.
They use their CMS to install Softaculous script. I think this is the best way to get your WordPress website.
excellent response time on customer service tickets.
Uptime my test: 99.97%.
Server Response Time average: 757 ms.

Things I hate:
There is no phone support for the basic package, but you get my number if you have one of the more expensive packages. If phone support is really important for you even to the basic package you can check out their sister company, HostNine. However, assistance is great and more than made up for it.
A Small Orange was acquired by ISG in July 2012. This will be a major issue in recent years, but I’ve talked to three different important figures in ASO and they all said eig is to run a completely independent way. As long as it stays that way, I would have no complaints.
really great service
The most amazing part of A Small Orange is their customer service.
Send them a ticket and they will come back with a comprehensive response within 30 minutes. You will not see anywhere else. Do not take my word for it – check it out!
When I bought my VPS packages on them, first I thought it had a serious problem. It turns out that I’m just an idiot! I’ve never used a VPS server before and just take my cPanel will be ready as soon as I signed up for the account. ASO has been extremely helpful with my setup, even if some of my questions just stupid.
The plan to choose?
Some may think that ASO give you too many options – other (like me) think it’s great because you will never pay for something you do not need.
Assuming this is one of your top sites, bandwidth will not be a problem no matter what plan you choose – it’s all about the amount of disk space you need.
If you plan on hosting a website, I recommend the package “Tiny”. If you want to store more than one, start with the pack “small” and scale from there.
If you’re not sure what you need, my advice is to create a ticket by contacting them info@asmallorange.com and tell them exactly what you intend to do. They suggest the package that suits you best.
The beauty is that you can increase or decrease at any time in minutes.
December 2015 VPS PANNES
Some people have sent or written to me in the comments that their VPS has been for several days in December. Reviewpon is hosted on a VPS and a small orange has not had any problems, but it was on the news. I decided to go with them to see what is happening. Here are the answers:
Thank you for your email. First I want to start by 100% honest, we had downtime on our VPS last week. This is the first time in our 13 years as a server to experience a server failure on our high-end and it is clear that the last thing we would ever want to happen. We work around the clock to get the server running again and is doing everything possible to ensure that this never happens again.
He offered me a 20% coupon (REVIEWPON20) for my readers did not really make big trouble, but I guess that’s a start.
I’m not too worried about that time, but it is definitely something I will keep my eye on.
pick up
After about three years than try a small orange, I’ve decided to rank first.
We will see how a small orange that they continue to build a customer base – but they have earned my trust.
